Raiders taking their sweet time
Now, about that offensive coordinator: Dick Jauron was the obvious choice as the Bills' new coach. Jauron finished second to Mike Mularkey as Buffalo's hire two years ago, so he already had an endorsement from owner Ralph Wilson. Jauron's Ivy League education makes him a natural fit for cerebral general manager Marv Levy. Jauron's biggest challenge will be hiring an offensive coordinator. He probably won't be able to bring Greg Olson from Detroit because there is a good chance Olson will end up in St. Louis. Olson is the Lions quarterbacks coach.
Haslett has shot of joining Rams: Former Saints coach Jim Haslett flew to Miami to meet with new Rams coach Scott Linehan. Haslett would be a good fit as Linehan's defensive coordinator; he knows the team well from their rivalry days when the Saints were part of the NFC West. Linehan has an early edge on some of the other late coaching hires in shaping one of the best stable of assistants. The Rams have a good enough team that their jobs will be attractive to assistants.
