Bowhunting Texas bristle pigs

Lone Star State javelina provide solid opportunities for bowhunters looking for an offseason challenge.

For archers across much of the country who are lamenting the ends of most open deer seasons, these are the times that can try a bowhunter's soul.

Unless, of course, such a hunter is planning to venture into Texas to chase game that may not be big in size, but certainly ranks large in challenge and opportunity.

That's a good way to describe hunting the javelina, a vastly underutilized hunting resource found in the southern and western portions of the Lone Star State.
