The 26-year-old driver has signed a deal with the upstart beverage company, which will have the vitaminwater logo on Kahne's Busch car and on his fire suit for Nextel Cup races. "Vitaminwater is a core part of my training," Kahne said in a statement. "When you're in a hot car for hours every day like me, you need hydration that really works, and my pit crew swears my lap times are faster after I drink a bottle of Power-C."
While Kahne says he enjoyed the berry- flavored version of the water, it's not clear whether the brand will put Kahne behind Perform, its sports drink that is currently endorsed by 20 major-league players. Glaceau, the parent company of vitaminwater, was founded in 1996 and reportedly is projecting revenues of $700 million this year. Other sponsors on Kahne's fire suit include his primary sponsor Dodge, Stanley Tools, McDonald's, Siemens, Allstate, Puma, Valvoline and new sponsor Hellman's.
