Andy Kennedy had one goal when he accepted the interim job at Cincinnati: get the Bearcats to the NCAA Tournament.

"That's what I wanted from day one,'' Kennedy said by phone from Cincinnati after the Bearcats beat West Virginia 78-75 to close the regular season and finish 8-8 in the Big East, 19-11 overall.

But to get there, Kennedy had to do something he never thought he would: order a foul with a three-point lead. Cincinnati fouled Kevin Pittsnogle with seven seconds left.
