Blake deserving of top-10 ranking

James Blake didn't win the Pacific Life Open, losing in straight sets to Roger Federer in the final. However, as Patrick McEnroe writes, Blake has clearly established himself as one of the best players in the world.

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. -- James Blake is a legitimate top-10 player now (Blake is ranked No. 9 in the ATP Tour rankings after his loss to Roger Federer in the Pacific Life Open final on Sunday). The key for him getting here is that James believes it, that he belongs in the top 10.

I remember a couple of years ago when we were playing a Davis Cup match against Croatia. He had a great win on the first day, and I remember saying at that time, "Blake has the tools to be a top-five player." ...
