Three vets out for redemption

Frank Thomas and Tim Salmon were playing against one another in the Cape Cod League in 1988. Steve Finley already had made it to Triple-A with Rochester. Ronald Reagan was the president. Now, 18 years later, Thomas, Salmon and Finley came to spring training realizing that they had each been given up on as relics in the distinguished history file. Thomas was signed by Oakland after he parted ways with the White Sox, Salmon was invited to spring training by the only team he has known, the Angels, and Finley at 41 is with the Giants after his contract was traded for Edgardo Alfonzo's contract.
