Fatal bass-tourney crash trial ends in acquittal
DAYTON, Tenn. A man charged in a deadly boating accident during a bass-fishing tournament was acquitted Friday after a trial in which the central piece of evidence was a computer simulation paid for by the victim's father.
Charles N. Kilpatrick, 48, was found not guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the death of Matt Goins, 31, who was killed in a boat collision in 2001 at the start of the tournament on the Tennessee River.
