FSU's Timmons in spotlight
The No. 11 Seminoles are finishing preparations for Monday night's showdown against No. 12 Miami in the Orange Bowl (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET). Strangely, as was pointed out by one of the FSU officials, the Hurricanes practiced Tuesday with Tropical Storm Ernesto preparing to beat down the South Florida coast. Meantime, the Seminoles couldn't practice outside in Tallahassee on Tuesday because of the threat of lightning. The Seminoles had a brief practice in their indoor facility, while the school's marching band continued to practice outside.
It's still not raining here, as of 2 p.m. Wednesday, but heavy rain is expected later in the day. As far as football, Florida State says it's as healthy as it's been throughout preseason camp. Only one starter, tight end Charlie Graham, is in danger of missing the game because of injury. Graham has a sprained ankle.
