Hungry trout biting at Saddlebag Lake

BRIDGEPORT, Calif. — Many of the lakes in the California high country got a late start this year due to an immense amount of snowfall that fell in the Sierra Nevada this past winter and spring.

In places like Mammoth Lakes, ski resorts stayed open into July and many lakes didn't thaw until that same time period.
