Former Purdue coach Keady to receive Wooden award

LOS ANGELES -- Gene Keady, who retired in March 2005 after 25 seasons coaching Purdue basketball, will receive the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching award in April.

He had a 512-270 record at Purdue, where the Boilermakers won six Big Ten titles under him. Keady also was an assistant on the U.S. team that won a gold medal at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Keady will receive the award April 7 at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
