Barber, Jacobs good combination

The Giants have an excellent rushing attack behind the legs of Tiki Barber and Brandon Jacobs. The offensive line is doing a good job of run blocking which Barber and Jacobs have taken advantage of for big gains. This ability to run the football should take some of the pressure off quarterback Eli Manning. The defense has played well in recent weeks despite losing key starters at all positions. They should see the return of Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, Brandon Short and others to the starting lineup sooner than expected. The schedule gets easier for the Giants, but it is a two edged sword with their remaining games because their opponents have a combined record of 31-32.

Last season, Manning struggled in the second half of the season and it looks like history is repeating itself. Manning's numbers have steadily decreased the past few weeks and he played poor Sunday night against a good Bears defense. He can't afford to be inconsistent down the stretch and needs to stop forcing the ball into coverage. The schedule has some teams with poor records, but the Giants have to play four out of the last seven on the road.
