Court: NFL pension board 'abused its discretion'
A Federal appeals court has affirmed a 2005 trial court ruling that the NFL's pension plan wrongly withheld a disability pension from Hall of Fame center Mike Webster.
The unanimous ruling, issued Wednesday by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, upheld the lower court's finding that Webster, who died in 2002, was permanently disabled as a result of brain injuries from playing football.
