Where's word of IU win?

Updated: December 18, 2006, 5:43 PM ET
I have been on a soapbox for some time now about equal treatment for majors and mid-majors with regard to results and evaluations. Some think I am being hard on the mid-majors. I believe that I am treating them like anyone else, which is what they should want.

I believe that if we continue to revel in the false glory of a good mid-major beating an average or below-average major, we are being condescending to the mid-majors. I further believe that it is unfair and wrong to celebrate how great a mid-major is, then ignore the result when a major beats that good mid-major.

In general, a win against a good team is a good win, period. A loss by a good team to another good team is not necessarily a bad loss, either. And, my all-time pet peeve on this subject: A win by a good mid-major over a major is not always an upset.
