Cubs agree to terms with RHP Brian Williams on 2000 contract

CHICAGO (Ticker) -- Journeyman reliever Brian Williams today agreed to terms on a contract for the 2000 season with the Chicago Cubs.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but ESPN 1000 radio in Chicago reported it to be worth $600,000.

Williams, 30, has a 25-37 career record with a 5.22 ERA and five saves in eight seasons with the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles. The righthander went 2-1 with a 4.41 ERA in 50 appearances -- all out of the bullpen ...
