Canada tops U.S., earns spot in world curling final

EDMONTON, Alberta -- Canada's Glenn Howard beat American Todd Birr 7-2 on Friday night to advance to the title game in the World Men's Curling Championship.

With the victory in the 1-2 Page playoff, Howard earned a spot in the championship game Sunday.

"The first goal was to get to the 1-2 game; the second goal was to get to the final; and the third goal is to win the gold medal for Canada on Sunday," Howard said.
