Arbitrator tells Lelie to repay $600,000 in bonus money
An arbitrator has ruled that wide receiver Ashley Lelie must repay the Denver Broncos, the team which brought him into the NFL as a first-round draft choice in 2002, about $600,000 in prorated signing bonus money from his original contract.
League sources confirmed the ruling, first reported by the Denver Post. Both the Broncos and the NFL Players Association, which represented Lelie in the arbitration case, were informed of the ruling earlier this week.
