3-point line move is spot on

Updated: May 7, 2007, 11:09 AM ET
The NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee decided to move the 3-point line back one foot beginning in 2008-2009. I think the move is a good one.

The Committee is waiting to institute the rule change because of the cost of repainting the lines at gyms across the country. Of course, the cost of salaries and benefits of compliance departments and staff are no big deal.

The new line should provide more space in the post, and should deter some players from launching up ill-advised 3-point shots. But make no mistake: the 3-point shot will still be a significant weapon.
