We're sure the Yankees had many fascinating reasons they thought a certain seven-time Cy Young Award winner was legitimately worth an annual salary of 28 million bucks. But the heck with those reasons -- because the Yankees knew they all boiled down to this:

There's a really, really good chance their customers would rather pay actual negotiable U.S. dollars to see Roger Clemens pitch than they would, say, Sidney Ponson.
