Clemens, Schmidt, weekend notes

Updated: June 4, 2007, 10:41 AM ET
Someone pulled a Billy Donovan in one of my leagues this week, creating a firestorm of controversy. There was a trade, a clearly one-sided one even without the breaking news surrounding the players, and when the owner getting torched realized just how bad it was, he asked for a mulligan. He wanted to go back! I wasn't privy to the actually conversation and e-mail involving the trade partners, but I imagine it went something like this.

Team A: "Hey man, I know our deal of Lance Berkman and Jason Schmidt for Jason Giambi and Salomon Torres (the names have been changed to protect the parties involved!) seemed fair a few days ago, and it's still pending, but I am having second thoughts. I'm going to back out of the deal now, if you don't mind. That's cool with you, right? I mean, this is just a friendly game.

Team B: "No &%*($#)@ way."
