Phillips to give Wisconsin options

As is usually the case, Wisconsin always seems to land a little known quarterback with big upside who ends up panning out, and we feel they have accomplished this feat once again with QB Curt Phillips (Kingsport, Tenn./Sullivan South). Only this time, Phillips is going to bring much more athleticism to the position than the Badgers are used to having. The measurables are all present -- size, arm strength and, most importantly, the ability to put pressure on a defense with his legs. He is accurate and can make all the throws. Phillips' tools are going to give Wisconsin many more options to spread out the defense and utilize his athleticism and give it a dimension to offset its power running game, which has been a staple in Wisconsin for almost 20 years now. Is Phillips ready to play right now? Probably not -- and he won't have to. With development, Phillips could end up being one of the better quarterbacks signed to the Big Ten conference this year.
