Second-half AL hitters to watch

Updated: July 12, 2007, 1:31 PM ET
Rickey Henderson is back in baseball, taking over as the Mets hitting coach. I really don't think this will have much impact in fantasy baseball. Jose Reyes has 46 stolen bases, a pace for 86. David Wright seems intent on going after 30/30. Carlos Beltran should surpass his Mets' high for steals before September.

How about the walks? Can Rickey help the Mets, ranked No. 17 in baseball in bases on balls, get on base more? Yeah, I suppose he can't hurt. But hitting coach? I find it odd, that's all. Personally, I think Rickey wants to play again, he sees Julio Franco pinch-hitting, he figures he can still run, now he can show off the speed. Maybe they'll both end up on the playoff roster.

Yeah, slow news day, I guess. On Wednesday I named a hitter from each National League team I was keeping my eye on for the second half. Let's get to the AL.
