There were plenty of well-owned pitchers in action on Thursday night, as the unofficial second half of the major league season got under way, but only two starters entered with an ERA below 3.00. Roy Halladay? Nope. Bronson Arroyo and Andy Pettitte? Not even close? What about youngsters Felix Hernandez and Andrew Miller? Sorry, can't help you.

The answers are Jeremy Guthrie and Chad Gaudin. They began the festivities with ERAs of 2.74 and 2.88. Well, those flashy ERAs are no longer below 3.00.
