Ball St. still interviewing coaches

A few quick nuggets for Tuesday:

• Ball State still doesn't have a head coach. Yes, we've written about this for weeks, but as the Ball State officials told me, the school has to take its time replacing Ronny Thompson. AD Tom Collins held phone interviews last week and should be getting closer to bringing in some candidates. He seems to be leaning toward a coach with head coaching experience, which would mean a pool of former Saint Louis coach Brad Soderberg, Indiana assistant and former Ball State coach Ray McCallum (though it's debatable if he's interested), former South Florida and Western Michigan coach Robert McCullum and IUPUI's Ron Hunter.
