The big air brought BMX to a double cutting edge at Staples Center Friday night, and both sides proved to be sharp. It's been 16 years since Mat Hoffman first built a 21-foot quarterpipe and sped toward it at 55 miles per hour behind a motorcycle, and it took 6 years after that for another rider to hit any ramp near that height again.
