Exam reveals no serious injuries for Timmons

Pittsburgh Steelers first-round draft choice Lawrence Timmons has received encouraging news about the groin injury that has forced him to miss most of training camp.

Timmons was examined Wednesday in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers, an abdominal specialist, and tests revealed that the rookie linebacker is not suffering from a tear or hernia, either of which might have required surgery and prolonged rehabilitation.
