THIBODAUX, La. -- I found the antidote to the ugliest offseason in NFL history.

It was down in the oppressive late-summer heat of the Louisiana swamps, about 45 minutes southwest of New Orleans, past the fish camps, past the murky canals and an endless string of cypress trees covered in moss. I came upon the tiny, time-warped town called Thibodaux, home to Nicholls State University and the 12th annual Manning Passing Academy.
