Top-flight point guards hard to find

Having coached in the high school, college and pro ranks, I can safely say most coaches covet a top-flight point guard. Unfortunately, they are very hard to find.

There are guys who think they are point guards, but it is extremely hard to find a true point guard. There are many guards who can handle and shake their defender. There are many guards who can shoot, break down their defender and get wherever they want. And there are many guards who can get you 25 points.

But that is not what I am looking for in a true point guard. I want someone who has the ability to lead a team, make those around him better, understands the nuances of the game and is a true coach on the floor. I want a point guard that can handle, has vision and can pass and can score when necessary.
