Week 1 Rankings

Updated: September 6, 2007, 2:48 PM ET
Well, it's about time Week 1 of the 2007 fantasy football season arrives. I mean, it's only been, what, eight months since the last regular season NFL game. What were they waiting for, anyway? What's a hockey offseason, like three weeks? Aren't they in training camps already? Daniel Briere, welcome to Philly. Can you play linebacker, your football team needs to stop the run.

OK, back to fantasy football. Like I said, it's been awhile since Brett Favre beat the Bears in the final game of last season, then tearfully hinted at retirement. Of course he came back. Everyone comes back. Favre makes my top 25 quarterbacks for Week 1, and I'd bet he's in my top 25 most every week.

But plenty of other players didn't make my top 25. Let's get a few things straight on these rankings. They aren't season ranks, because you've already seen those, and hopefully already drafted, since it's bad karma to draft after the season actually starts. I didn't bother to look to see what anyone else in ESPN.com's fantasy department ranked, because these are just my thoughts (you can check out all the staff rankings later on our front page). I took into account not only my position rankings but the opponent, the weather, potential injuries, what colors my five-year-old daughter likes best, you know the drill.
