Big Ben and D carries Pittsburgh

The Steelers are sitting pretty. After losing at Arizona in Week 4, they responded in a very big way by shutting out the Seahawks at Heinz Field. It was an early testament to Mike Tomlin's ability to inspire his players, not to get too high during the good times and not to sink too low when times got tough. More importantly, this win also makes Pittsburgh 4-1 and sitting alone at the top of the AFC North as they head into their bye week.

Three of the Steelers' most important players were inactive for this win over Seattle. If this were a playoff game, Troy Polamalu, Casey Hampton and Hines Ward possibly would have played, but Tomlin didn't force the issue after the loss to the Cardinals and saw the big picture. All of these key players were inactive with the bye week coming to get even more rest and treatment. Compounding the injury situation, WR Santonio Holmes pulled a hamstring in pre-game warm up and also didn't play. Keeping these players on the sidelines was risky, but the gamble paid off.
