Carolina head coach John Fox has taken a strong role in the defense since the Panthers' embarrassing loss at home to the Buccaneers in Week 4. Since Fox has gotten more involved, the Panthers defense is giving up 49 less yards and 10 fewer points per game over the last two games. Plus, the Panthers' defense had five interceptions, which has given their offense a shorter field.

One of the key ingredients has been simplifying the schemes so that players are thinking less and reacting more, especially on the backend when it pertains to coverage schemes. However, defensive coordinator Mike Trgovac and Fox will have their hands full in containing QB Peyton Manning and the Colts up-tempo offensive attack.
