Week 9 start, sit, flex, repeat

Something dawned on me when completing the Thursday blog about the Patriots facing the Colts: Those are really good teams laden with fantasy talent, and fantasy owners really, really rely on those teams. OK, you knew that. But when trying to come up with the best team the ugly AFC East, excluding the Patriots, could provide, it was clear there isn't much there. I mean, I had J.P. Losman at quarterback! Who would it have been had Trent Edwards not lost the job? Dan Marino at age 46? John Beck, even though he hasn't taken a snap?

Ronnie Brown enters Week 9, believe it or not, as fantasy's top running back so far, despite doing very little the first two weeks and literally nothing in Week 8. Basically, he is this season's Donovan McNabb, to some degree. A year ago, McNabb was fantasy's top player, better than eventual fantasy winner LaDainian Tomlinson; then came a torn ACL and sadness for his fantasy owners. Brown, on a still-winless and putrid Dolphins team, had a really good run there for awhile, although, because of Tom Brady, few in fantasy noticed. Now, Brown is out.
