Even though the Chiefs have been somewhat painful to watch from an offensive standpoint, they have been playing some pretty impressive defensive under defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham. However, what's impressed me the most about this defense has been the production of LOLB Derrick Johnson and RDE Jared Allen. After watching the Packers game on Sunday, it's apparent to me that both these players are great building blocks to the future in Kansas City. Johnson is a versatile player who reminds me of a young Derrick Brooks, who has been so dominating in this system over the years while playing in Tampa Bay. He is a big, physical player with rare athleticism and playing speed for the position. He is very active and makes plays all over the field with excellent lateral range and speed. He has very good awareness in zones and a great knack for timing up blitzes when pressuring the pocket. He is a strong tackler who can explode through the ball carrier.
