What happened to the Bears' 'D'?

The Bears' defense is not what it once was and it doesn't appear that it will turn around any time soon. Half way through the 2007 season the Bears appear to be a shell of what they once were a year ago.

At first glance many of the names are the same, but this year Chicago has a dismal offense that is unable to control the ball on the ground, like it did in 2006. As a result the Bears' defense has been on the field for longer periods of time. As bad as QB Rex Grossman was in 2006 he had a total of 20 interceptions in 16 games, but this year the Bears already have been picked off 16 times through eight games.
