Capel scores with signing of Willie Warren

The early signing period for college basketball came to a close Wednesday without too many big surprises. The biggest surprise may indeed be Oklahoma with the way it recruited and ultimately signed the No. 19 prospect in the ESPN 150, 6-4 combo-guard Willie Warren (Fort Worth, Texas).
Warren, one of the top uncommitted recruits in the country, originally intended to select a school during the spring signing period. However, Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel successfully wooed the highly-coveted guard, resulting in Warren inking with the Sooners. Warren, if he continues to play with increased intensity, should get plenty of minutes at the shooting guard slot with a good amount of scoring opportunities from the perimeter. Warren and 2007 big man Blake Griffin should combine to provide Oklahoma with a very potent perimeter-interior duo.
