Shaq, others I'm giving up on

Two months down in fantasy hoops, a bit more than three more to go, and while I wouldn't say we're at panic time for fantasy owners yet, we're getting close. The All-Star break doesn't occur at the mid-point of the season, it never does, so if you're waiting until then to make that big trade, you're probably waiting too long.

Likewise, there are some players either off to slow starts that are getting too painful to own, or are slowing down to the point I can't wait for them to come back. I don't know how many teams are in your league, or what stats you use, but I can report here are five players I'm starting to get tired of seeing on my teams, and I don't think I can take it anymore!

Shaquille O'Neal, C, Heat: My last-round pick in our Fantasy Writers league, I thought it was a sweet get after the top 100-plus players had been selected. I knew this was not the Shaq of old, but I figured I'd get something like the previous season, and I could live with 17 and 7 and the occasional block. O'Neal really isn't disappointing all that much, and his free throw percentage isn't killing my team at all, as he doesn't get to the line at some crazy rate. What is killing my team are the missed games, not that I didn't expect this. Shaq has sat the past three contests with a hip issue, might miss a bunch more, and his scoring fell from 16.3 points in November to 11.6 in December. With each game Shaq misses I get closer to sending him to the waiver wire.
