IRS special agent testifies in cyclist's perjury trial
SAN FRANCISCO -- The federal government's star witness in the perjury trial of cyclist Tammy Thomas described the genesis of a doping investigation that has reached the highest levels of sports under questioning by prosecutors.
Internal Revenue Service special agent Jeff Novitzky stopped short of naming names while testifying Thursday. Thomas is accused of making false statements to a grand jury about steroid use.
