Last Sunday, Aspenite Ted Mahon descended Colorado's seemingly unskiable Capitol Peak on skis to become only the third person in history to have skied all 54 peaks above 14,000 feet (14ers) in Colorado. He is also just the fifth to ski Capitol Peak. In an Aspen Daily News article, Lou Dawson, the first to perform the feat in 1978, applauded Mahon for saving such an exposed, dangerous descent for the last.
