If he could do so, the consequences for boxing in the near term would be enormous. A Forbes victory would derail the planned September rematch between the Golden Boy and the pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. It would place increased pressure on Mayweather to devote that September slot to taking on the winner of the July battle between Antonio Margarito and Kermit Cintron.
