Unheralded Meira, Carpenter, Scheckter lock down starting spots at Indy

Penske, Ganassi and Andretti dominated the headlines during Pole Day qualifying for the 92nd Indy 500, but they weren't the whole story. Vitor Meira, Ed Carpenter and Tomas Scheckter made a little noise, too, writes John Oreovicz.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Given the inclement weather that has settled over the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for most of the month of May, Pole Day qualifying took on even more importance than usual this year.

But not in terms of determining pole position.
