Same as It Ever Was

Long live George Washington Perry! Another year has passed since Perry caught the world record largemouth from a south Georgia oxbow, and it appears that he's safe for at least another six or seven months. How long is the bass fishing world going to proclaim Perry's imminent demise as the world record holder before acknowledging that a new record is not a given, not a foregone conclusion ... maybe not even attainable for many more years? It seems that 22 pounds, 4 ounces may be the target number for a long time yet.
