Monarchs re-sign free-agent Walker; doctors say knee recovered
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento Monarchs re-signed free agent DeMya Walker on Monday, two months after releasing her with what was believed to be a season-ending knee injury.
Walker was waived on May 15, less than three weeks after breaking her knee cap while playing in Russia. She underwent surgery on May 2 and was expected to miss six months.
But after rehabilitating the injury, Walker has been cleared by Monarchs team doctors to return to the court.
