Davenport's hopes dashed by knee injury; still in doubles competition
BEIJING -- Lindsay Davenport withdrew from singles competition at the Olympics on Friday because of a lingering knee injury that has sidelined her since late June.
Davenport still hopes to play doubles with U.S. teammate Liezel Huber. The tournament begins Sunday.
