McCain taps outdoorswoman as running mate

The 2008 presidential race will include a big-game-hunting Western governor after all.

Still-presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain tapped Sarah Palin of Alaska to complete the GOP ticket today.

Bill Richardson, the governor of New Mexico, had a short run in the Democratic primaries earlier in the race. He was unique among fellow contenders for his elk hunting; Palin, similarly, is an advocate for hunting.
