Cruz claims vacant IBF featherweight title; Olympian Andrade wins in pro debut
AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -- Cristobal Cruz won the vacant International Boxing Federation world featherweight championship Thursday night, outpointing Mexican countryman Orlando Salido in a 12-round split-decision.
Cruz (37-11-1 with 23 knockouts) overcame a fast start by Salido (31-10-2 with 20 knockouts) to earn the victory. Two judges scored the fight 116-112 in favor of Cruz, while the third had it 115-113 for Salido.
