Backcountry = Deadly Sketchy

North American avalanche fatalities now number six this season

Two young snowmobilers were caught and killed in an avalanche Wednesday near Mt. Logan in Providence, Utah, near the Utah-Idaho border—further tragic proof that backcountry conditions around the West remain very, very sketchy at the moment. And with continued snowfall only adding stress to an already tender snowpack, conditions appear to be getting worse. The takeway: Be careful, be very careful.
