Cubs making offseason mistakes

Conversely, the Mark DeRosa trade is a great deal for the Indians; he is the perfect type of player for them. They had checked in on the Orlando Hudson market before finishing the DeRosa deal and found his asking price still too high for them -- Hudson is expected to get at least a three-year deal -- but DeRosa is a very nice alternative. He'll start at third base for the Indians, as Paul Hoynes writes. (One scout who has seen DeRosa extensively believes this is his worst position, and wonders if the Indians would be better off shifting Jhonny Peralta to third and Asdrubal Cabrera to short, while using DeRosa at second). The Indians, however, believe that DeRosa's best position could be third base.

Cleveland has bolstered its bullpen, and the Indians should have a solid rotation (with Cliff Lee and Fausto Carmona at the front end), and Victor Martinez is healthy. Right now, the Indians look like AL Central favorites.
