Sengoku scramble: Kanehara an unlikely featherweight champion

Sengoku 9 was held in the early morning hours Sunday, and it was Masanori Kanehara who proved to be … well, if not the best fighter of the evening, easily the most fortunate.

Kanehara, who was eliminated in the opening round by tourney favorite Hatsu Hioki, was plucked from the void later on when Hioki himself couldn't meet Michihiro Omigawa in the final.
