The best without a major title

A few months back, I wrote a column about the best angler who never won a BASS event and concluded that it was Paul Chamblee. Around the same time I wrote another column about the best angler who never won the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year award and decided it was Tommy Martin.

I'd write about the best angler who has never won the Bassmaster Classic, but it's undoubtedly Roland Martin, with second place going to Gary Klein. No one else is close.

With this column, I want to explore the question of who is the greatest angler who never won a major championship — that is, a Bassmaster Classic or an Angler of the Year title.
