Week 5 rankings: Eagles, Bills, Steve Smiths

Maybe it's just coincidence, but I could tell while doing my rankings on Tuesday which fantasy football position would be hurt the most by the second week of byes, just as I could last week. Of course, the NFL schedule makers don't think about the combination of teams that have the week off, but fantasy footballers need to. Last week, the top 10 at the wide receiver position seemed decimated, with five of my top 12 being off. Now it's quarterbacks.

Donovan McNabb likely will play, and I liked him so much, he made my top five. Eli Manning will have a fortuitous matchup against Oakland if he plays, but likewise, just the chance he'll play was enough for me to give him a nice rank. Tony Romo doesn't feel like a top-10 quarterback at all, but I wasn't prepared to push David Garrard, Matt Ryan or Kyle Orton in his place. Hey, this is what happens when three of the top five quarterbacks in fantasy (Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Philip Rivers) are playing golf, including the fellow I predicted would end up first (Rodgers), while Jay Cutler has good-enough matchups to make my top 10 until Thanksgiving.
