Irving Nimitz defense sparks turnaround
The worst-to-first turnaround for the Irving Nimitz football program is grounded in dramatic defensive improvement.
Nimitz allowed an average of 36.7 points a game last year while going 1-9. This year, Nimitz (6-1 overall, 3-0 in District 7-5A), has allowed 14.
Eddrick Loften, an Oklahoma pledge, provides the last line of defense from free safety. He has 108 tackles (31 solos) and three interceptions, including one that clinched Friday's 17-10 win over Duncanville.
